Is Gadkari-Ramdev bonhomie good for anti-corruption movement?

GN Bureau | June 5, 2012

The Bharatiya Janata Party has backed Baba Ramdev’s movement against black money, with the yoga guru meeting party president Nitin Gadkari at his residence. The yoga guru said the movement is not against any political party but it is for the benefit of the nation. But given the party’s saffron leanings, the Congress may try to dilute the movement as it is being backed by the opposition. The Congress has been blaming Team Anna for not naming the corrupt in the BJP. Until now, the anti-corruption movement was non-partisan and had full support of the people. But can the movement retain its non-partisan entity after joining hands with the BJP? Or will it be Ramdev’s breaking point with Team Anna as fissures are already appearing?

Will Gadkari-Ramdev bonhomie prove good for the anti-corruption movement?
