A large number of women are supporting and participating in Baba Ramdev`s protest.

Sunita was suffering from breast cancer. She went to a reputed hospital and was advised surgery. She paid Rs 1.5 lakh but the doctors performed surgery at the wrong place and cancer was not cured. Yet they did not return the money. For Sunita getting cured was more important than getting back the money. So, she came to Baba Ramdev's camp. She was very happy when she was completely cured after six months.

But she was cheated by the previous hospital and the system could not help her get the money back was pricking her constantly. When Baba announced his decision to go on fast to fight corruption she was convinced that she too had to do her bit. So, she took the train from Purnia in Bihar and came to Delhi to join Baba Ramdev at Ramleela ground.

Sunita told us that she has contributed Rs 1.25 lakh to Baba's trust so that Baba can effectively launch his movement against corruption. When asked why Baba is collecting money from people to fund his Satyagraha, she said, "People are donating out of their own will. Every single paisa that the Trust receives is accounted for. I myself have received a receipt for my contribution."

Icchho Devi, a Superintendent in the Secretariat at Shimla, was also sitting and chanting 'Vande Mataram' and 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' with thousands of others present at the Pandal. She said that she herself works in a government department but when she has to get her work done from other government agencies, very often she had to pay a bribe. She added that her health department gets lots of fund from the government but the actual money that is spent on people's welfare is a fraction of it. She believes that Baba's movement will show positive results and will help posterity. That is why she has donated Rs 1100 to the cause.

When asked why Baba Ramdev - who runs an empire estimated to be worth Rs 1,100 crore - is openly collecting money from people at large for the fast protest against corruption, Vijay Rawat, a school teacher from Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh retorts, "Where is the problem? After all, the Baba is collecting money openly, not secretly like Kalmadi and Raja did. Baba has announced that he will publish account of every single paisa collected and spent on this movement in due course. Right now his focus is on effectively carrying forward the Satyagraha."

Shantaji, who was sitting next to Vijaya Rawat, and who hails from Goa added, "When people contribute fund to a cause, they become interested in knowing what is being done with their money. Once they have contributed, they have a stake and make sure that the movement does not fizzle out."
