Walled city to get a facelift

Soon, overhanging wires will be a thing of past

Delhi’s walled city may soon get rid of overhanging wires, which are an eyesore and may lead to short circuits.
On Wednesday, Delhi urban development minister Dr A. K. Walia sanctioned an amount of Rs 4.5 crore, which will be used to remove all overhanging wires in the walled city and placing them underground.
After visiting the walled city, Walia said that the government would complete the beautification of this part of town before commonwealth games slated for October 3 to 15.
Multi- level parkings would also be constructed at various locations in the area.
The minister asked the officials to consider areas near Ghata masjid , Purdah bagh and Mahavir Vatika for the same.
