Rahul Gandhi to vist J&K

May attend a conference of Pahari-speaking people in J&K on May 17

After his expeditions in Uttar Pradesh, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi is now ready to explore new territory: Jammu and Kashmir. Gandhi may go to attend a conference of Pahari-speaking people in J&K on May 17, party sources said on Saturday.

"Rahul Gandhi is also likely to go to some border areas in Jammu region, especially Rajouri. Chief minister Omar Abdullah may join him at the Pahari conference," sources said. This will be Gandhi's first visit to the Jammu region after his hectic campaign for party candidates for the parliamentary polls in April 2009.
