Top bureaucrat likely to return to Delhi posting

Pulok Chatterjee on Tuesday paid courtesy calls on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi amid speculation that he is likely to return to Delhi in September and occupy a key position in UPA II.

Chatterjee, an IAS officer of 1974 batch of UP cadre, is a close confidant of both top leaders and spent five years in PMO as additional secretary to Manmohan Singh. He is currently on deputation with the World Bank.

His absence is now being felt at both 7 Race Course Road and 10 Janpath. The word doing rounds is that he is likely to be asked to return to Delhi in his mid tenure.  Meanwhile, his presence in Delhi on an official work has sent many seniors sweating and shivering.
