June 11 election for 57 RS seats

The Election Commission has finalised the schedule for holding Rajya Sabha elections on Friday, June 11 for 57 seats from 11  states: Andhra Pradesh (6 seats), Karnataka (4), Chhatisgarh (2), Madhya Pradesh (3), Tamil Nadu (6), Orissa (3), Maharashtra (6), Punjab (2), Rajasthan (4), Uttar Pradesh (11), Uttarakhand (1), Jharkhand (2), Bihar (5), Haryana (2).
Highly placed sources told GovernanceNow that the full bench of the commission which sat on Tuesday finalised the following schedule:
May 25, 2010: Notification for Rajya Sabha elections
June 1, 2010: Last date of filing nominations
June 2, 2010: Scrutiny of nominations
June 4, 2010: Withdrawal of nominations
June 11, 2010: Polling between 9 am to 4 pm
June 11, 2010: Counting of votes and declaration of results, 5 pm
