Govt need to create awareness about laws prevalent in the state

Jammu and Kashmir government plans to identify various outdated laws to update them and make them relevant to the present context.

"We have to make laws relevant to the present context so that these are properly implemented," law minister A M Sagar said addressing top officials of his ministry here today.

He said there was a need to create awareness about laws prevalent in the state so that the people get first hand information about their utility.

The minister also directed the officials to vigorously pursue various cases in different courts so that the viewpoint of the government is properly projected.

Sagar, who also holds the rural development portfolio, underlined the need for effective and need based monitoring of various rural development schemes so that the targeted population is benefited.

While asking officials of his ministry to give special focus to MGNREGA, the minister said the canvas of the scheme has been broadened under the convergence programme by involving projects of various departments like forests and agriculture.
