Games add to the city's bus count

600 additional buses to roll on city roads from October 18

Life is set to get easier for the commuters in Delhi once the Games are over. Not only will the Blueline buses be back, but Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) will add 600 new buses to its existing fleet from October 18.

The low-floor buses, both air-conditioned and non-airconditioned, which had been procured exclusively for the atheletes' use will now be a part of the DTC fleet.

Presently, DTC has 5,082 buses. The additional number of buses is expected bring down transport woes that hit Delhiites in the run-up to the Games.

“By October 17 the guests and athletes are expected to return. From the subsequent day the buses will be put on roads. The traffic department of the DTC is chalking out the routes,” said A K Goyal, deputy chief general manager, DTC.
