Bachchan makes Ramesh skip tiger campaign event

Environment and Forest Minister Jairam Ramesh recently slipped out of a Save Tiger Campaign show quietly. Reason: Amitabh Bachchan, the Congress' latest persona non grata, was to be the chief guest.

The minister's absence was of course noticed. But at least he escaped facing music in the party. And he needs to do so as his Rajya Sabha term ends in June. Till then he would try to avoid controversies as far as he can.

Karan to teach Rahul ABC of Hinduism

Karan Singh shall have a unique responsibility apart from advising Sonia Gandhi on foreign affairs and remaining present during the dignitaries' discussions with the UPA chairperson. He is going to give Rahul Gandhi lessons on Hinduism, two hours every week.

Stamp of honour

Communication minister A Raja has approved a proposal from home minister P Chidambaram to bring out a postal stamp on the birth centenary of senior Congressman C Subramanian. The Department of Posts has been instructed to design a concept for the Rs 5 denomination stamp. In all probability, the stamp is likely to be released in Chennai just ahead of the Tamil Nadu assembly elections.
