The main Opposition Congress today staged a sit-in at the stairs of Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, on the fourth and last day of the special session of the Assembly called to discuss development, to highlight water crisis, corruption and other issues in the state.

The Congress members also kept empty earthen pots and buckets in front of them to highlight the problem with one of its MLAs, Govind Singh Rajput sitting in dhoti and vest at the spot claiming that there is no water at his official residence following which he came to the Assembly without taking a bath.

The protest was led by deputy leader of the Congress Legislature Party, Choudhry Rakesh Singh Chaturvedi along with senior party MLAs including Ajay Singh, Kalpana Parulekar, Govind Singh, Tulsi Silavat and Mahendra Singh Kalukheda.

Chaturvedi told reporters that since the special session was unconstitutional as they were not allowed to raise issues confronting the people, therefore they are returning the rule book of the Assembly in protest.

While highlighting the water crisis at his residence, Rajput also broke down and said if the government can not provide water in Bhopal, then the situation in other towns and villages can be understood where people have to walk miles to fetch drinking water.

Later, to protest the non-availability of water at his residence, Rajput took bath at the Upper Lake of Bhopal in full public view.
