BS Meena is heavy industries secretary

Jamini Kumar Sharma named member secretary of the Tariff Commission

BS Meena, a Maharashtra cadre IAS officer of 1975 batch, was on Thursday appointed heavy industries secretary, replacing Satyanarayana Dash (Kerala:73) who retires on March 31. Meena is currently special secretary and financial adviser in the steel ministry.

The Maharashtra cadre officer was especially chosen to have better coordination and understanding with heavy industries minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, a former chief minister with whom he had worked earlier.

Also appointed on Thursday was Jamini Kumar Sharma, a Madhya Pradesh cadre IAS officer of 1975 batch, as member secretary of the Tariff Commission in the commerce ministry in the rank and pay of secretary against vacancy caused by retirement of Raghubir Singh.
