First coal rake flagged off from NTPC’s coal block in Hazaribagh

The coal mine will have ultimate capacity of 18 million metric tonne (MMT) per annum

The first coal rake of NTPC’s Pakri-Barwadih coal mine at Hazaribagh was flagged-off by finance minister Arun Jaitley, Jharkhand chief minister Raghubar Das, union minister of state for power, coal, N&RE and mines Piyush Goyal, and minister of state for civil aviation Jayant Sinha, at Ranchi on February 16.
 
The coal mine will have ultimate capacity of 18 million metric tonne (MMT) per annum. About 2 to 3 MMT of coal is likely to be produced from the mine next year. Coal will be supplied to different power stations of NTPC from the mine as basket source, initially Barh power station of NTPC will be supplied one coal rake daily.
 
NTPC is playing a major role in meeting the power needs of the country and contributing to its economic and social development. It contributes nearly 24 percent of country’s generation. NTPC has a vision to be the world’s leading power company, energising India’s growth. It plans to become a 130GW company by 2032.
