BSNL employees stage sit-in for transfers

Employees threaten to indefinite strike after June 10

Hundreds of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) employees today began their two-day 'sit-in' in front of the Sanchar Bhawan here demanding transfers for rural employees as per their choice.

Ghanshyam Wagh and Jabbar Shaikh of the BSNL employees union said in a press note today that since 10-years,employees working in rural sector of BSNL have been demanding transfers to the place of their choice. And some transfer orders already issued have not yet been implemented so far. Hence the employees have gone on a two-day sit-in agitation from today, they said.

The union has threatened to launch a stir indefinitely after June 10 if the telecom general manager did not implement the already issued transfer orders of the employees concerned immediately.
