Bihar non-gazetted officers go on strike

They are pressing for removal of alleged discrepancies in implementation of the sixth pay commission

Functioning of the state government's offices across Bihar was paralysed with around three lakh non-gazetted employees under the banner of their two federations proceeding on an indefinite strike from today to press for removal of alleged discrepancies in implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission report.

Bihar State Non-Gazetted Employees Federation (BSNGEF-Gope Group) General Secretary Rambali Prasad and Bihar State Non-Gazetted Employees Federation (BSNGEF) president Manjar Kumar Das claimed that the strike was total.

They claimed that most of the employees under the two federations had confirmed their participation in the strike beginning today and work at all the state government offices, excepting the state secretariat, remained crippled.

Official sources said the state government was keen on holding talks with the leaders of the striking federations to seek withdrawal of the stir.

"But the functioning of the offices is reported to be by and large normal", they said.

Prasad said the two federations launched the stir following alleged failure of the state government to address anomalies in the implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission scale in Bihar.
