Vinnie Mehta to leave MAIT

ACMA likely to appoint Vinnie Mehta as Executive Director

PTI | May 27, 2010

The Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) is likely to appoint Vinnie Mehta as its Executive Director with effect from July 1.

The post of Executive Director of ACMA is lying vacant after Vishnu Mathur left the body to join the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers as Director General.

According to industry sources, Mehta, who is at present the Executive Director of Manufacturers' Association for Information Technology (MAIT), will be appointed as the Executive Director of ACMA.

Repeated calls made to ACMA President Jayant Davar remained unanswered, while Mehta could not be reached for comments.

An electrical engineer and an MBA, Mehta also has a Masters degree in International Trade from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT). He is involved with the IT industry in India since 1992.

Prior to MAIT, Vinnie worked for two years on the SCADA system (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) with the gas giant GAIL Ltd.

ACMA represents over 592 companies, whose production forms a majority of the total auto component output in the organised sector. Besides the domestic market, they export parts to vehicle makers and aftermarkets across the world.

Apart from voicing the concerns of the Indian component makers, ACMA's other activities include participation in international trade fairs, sending trade delegations overseas and bringing out publications on various subjects.
