UBI launches improved e-Banking services

To expand banking services to 1400 villages

United Bank of India today launched an improved e-Banking technology and announced expansion of its ATM network by 1,000 to provide hassle-free banking transactions. UBI Chairman and Managing director Bhaskar Sen said here that services available to customers from the upgraded e-Banking services includes accessing accounts under e-banking, viewing temporary overdraft, detailed statement of account, cheque status query, stop payment of cheques and e-mailing facility. Sen told reporters here that it has also been decided to expand the ATM network across the country, with Kolkata and suburbs having 100, Delhi and its vicinity 40, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad 20, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Baroda 44, North-East 90, Bihar 23, Orissa 28, UP and Uttaranchal 44. The bank's executive director S L Bansal said that as per the financial inclusion plan, UBI would extend its banking services in 4,341 unbanked villages covering 83 districts of 11 states by 2011-12 end. "As per the roadmap, we shall extend banking services in 1,400 villages during 2010-11 and 2,941 villages in next fiscal," he said.
