India's largest software firm, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), today said it will set up a new learning and development campus at Thiruvananthanpuram (Trivandrum) in Kerala.

The new campus will house up to 10,000 professionals when fully completed and will offer TCS's cutting edge curriculum to those who join the company after a college education, the company said in a statement.

TCS will invest Rs 1,000 crore to set up the training centre, which will cover an area of 82 acres. Construction will commence in 2011-12 and is expected to be completed in three years, it said.

The new campus will be the learning hub of the organisation and will be connected with other satellite training facilities across the globe, the statement said.

"The 10,000-seat campus will set the global benchmark for corporate learning institutions in terms of physical infrastructure available, as well as the holistic professional and personal development programmes that will be available," Tata Consultancy Services Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director N Chandrasekaran said.

"We are delighted to expand our presence significantly in this city, where our current primary training centre has been located since 1997," Chandrasekaran said.
