TCS, Infosys vie for IRDA IT project

Insurance regulator to adopt ERP to connect 11 departments

Indian IT giants, including TCS, Infosys and Wipro, have been shortlisted by insurance regulator IRDA for financial bidding to implement its enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

Besides TCS, Infosys and Wipro, two other firms Mahindra Satyam and Deloitte have also been selected for the financial bidding, which is the third phase of the ERP technical tendering process.

The regulator has called for submission of the biddings by October 11.

The second phase of the tendering process was carried out in July.

ERP is an integrated software, which will cover and customise IRDA's various activities including human resource management, accounting, payroll administration, data bases, and other tools and accessories.

IRDA has 11 departments and the integrated software system is expected to streamline operations between them.

The insurance regulator had earlier announced plans to adopt ERP to automate the functions of its administration department with the purpose of creating an integrated working environment.

The selected IT partner will operate and monitor the system on the behalf of IRDA.
