Tata Nano has been sold online, with a US-based doctor buying the small car for his family in Varanasi through eBay Motors India.

The site is an online market place for sale of pre-owned cars, bikes & commercial vehicles in the country.

Tata Nano was bought online by Minhaj Naiyer from Mumbai dealer JMD Auto India. He won the auction for the 2010 Nano LX at Rs 1,80,000, eBay Motors India said in a statement today.

The site is part of leading online market place eBay India.

"I logged onto eBay India Motors and to my luck found a Nano listing... The entire process from selecting the vehicle to making the payment has been a wonderful experience," Naiyer said.

eBay India Motors' head Ashish Shah said this is the first international car purchase made through the site.

"... (we) use multiple payment methods to complete the transaction on the website," he added.
