1 arrested for sending inflammatory SMS, police tighten vigil

A college student was arrested for allegedly sending an inflammatory SMS by the police which has been on high alert ahead of the court verdict on Ayodhya title suit to be pronounced on September 24.

The 20-year-old student of Business Administration, identified as Mayank, was arrested last evening for allegedly sending an inflammatory message from his mobile to his friend in Meerut to spark communal tension, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Raghubir Lal said.

A case has been registered against him under relevant sections of IPC at Masoorie police station.

Lal said nobody will be allowed to disturb law and order situation in the district. Apart from local police force, paramilitary forces will also be deployed to maintain peace.

He said meetings were being held to appeal to the masses to maintain peace and tranquility.

In the neighbouring comunally-sensitive Meerut, the police administration have divided the district into 27 zones and 64 sectors with a magistrate and a police officer appointed in each of the zones and sectors.

In Lucknow, Additional Director General, Law and Order, Brij lal told reporters that special task force (STF) and anti terrorist squad (ATS) has been directed to remain alert on hate and inflammatory SMSes.

"We have alerted STF and ATS to remain alert on hate and inflammatory SMS which can trigger communal tension. They have been asked to track origin of such smses," he told reporters here.

About security of judges, who have to pronounce the judgement on Ayodhya issue, Brij Lal said that police was committed to provide them fool-proof security.

"We have chalked out elaborate plan for entire security of the court premises," he said.
