RCom launches MobileNet to provide hassle-free Internet access

Subscribers can now avail GPRS through multiple channels

As a part of its value-added service offerings to its customers, private telecom operator, Reliance Communications, today launched a single data plan, MobileNet, which claims to provide hassle-free Internet access.

Through MobileNet, RCOM GSM and Reliance Telecom Limited (RTL) subscribers can now avail GPRS through multiple channels such as self-care (RWorld, SMS, USSD), e-recharge, paper voucher, Internet, etc, a press release said here.

Presently, RCOM GSM/RTL subscribers can avail GPRS services through mobile, using different APN (Access Point Name) like RCOM Wap (via RWorld) and connect phone to PC/ laptop /modem to browse internet using RCOM Net (via NetConnect charges applicable).

"MobileNet GPRS plans will give customers Internet access on mobile as well PC/Laptop. The customer can use the MobileNet to access information, services and entertainment, much the same way as that on a PC," Reliance Communications' Head (VAS), Anil Pande, said.

In fact, existing plans on WAP (Mobile Internet) and Net (Net Connect) plans would be combined to offer better and improved offering, Pande said.

Through this VAS offering, RCOM plans to leverage revenues from the existing and new subscribers, the release said.
