R-Fi technology to keep tab of students

Pinnacle announces mobile application to monitor school kids

PTI | June 16, 2010

Nagpur-based value-added services firm Pinnacle Teleservices today announced the launch of an 'R-Fi' application that will help parents to get regular updates about their school-going kids on their mobile phones.

Based on radio frequency technology, the R-FI reader reads the photo ID cards of school children as they pass through the main gate of the school.

After detecting the signal, the system automatically sends alerts to the respective parents on their mobile phones about the child's attendance.

"R-Fi will prove to be a very beneficial product for both schools and parents, as it facilitates better communication between the school and the parents," Pinnacle Teleservices Founder Director Rajesh Banerjee told reporters here.

In addition to the alerts, the message can also provide updates on holidays and parent-teacher meetings, he added.

The cost of the system comes to Rs 600-1,000 per child annually, he added.
