Pental launches DU e-learning portal

Now take DU tests online

Students pursuing select disciplines at the Delhi University can now access their course materials on the web and even take tests online, thanks to the new e-learning portal launched by the varsity.

The web portal www.illldu.edu.in hosts e-learning content in the form of e-Lessons, e-Quizzes, e-Labs (for science disciplines) and e-Lectures for 12 disciplines of the university.

This content has been developed in 12 disciplines for various undergraduate programmes and hundreds of teachers were involved in this endeavour.

The e-lessons comprise of multimedia enriched content and value additions that make learning an interesting experience. Refuting the mechanical logic of rote learning, the e-lessons encourage creativity and promote both in the box and out of the box thinking, an university release said.

About 110 e-lessons have been uploaded on the e-learning portal so far.

Students can also test their ability through e-quizzes which comprise of mainly Multiple Choice Questions followed by four different options of which only one is correct.

E-labs are virtual labs for the science students. They are recorded experiments enriched with high-end animations and audio and video snippets to present the finest details of each laboratory experiment to the students.

Every e-lab has been divided into Pre-lab, in-lab and Post-lab. Many lab manuals and e-labs in the disciplines of Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences have been uploaded on the portal, the release said.

Students will also be able to get lectures on the web and each e-lecture has two windows appearing simultaneously.

Inaugurating the website, DU Vice Chancellor Deepak Pental this will alter the face of higher education in the university.
