An official e-mail address for all members of the Tamil Nadu Assembly was today launched by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to help public communicate with the MLAs instantly and 'more effectively.'

As part of implementing the announcement made by the Government during the budget session early this year, Karunanidhi through video-conferencing launched the official email addresses created by the IT department, of all the 234 MLAs, a government release said.

"Through the email addresses public will be able to communicate with the MLAs more effectively," he said.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister launched government's e-governance scheme for Krishnagiri district for the Backward classes.

Under the scheme, people would be able to get certificates related to caste, income and residence online, he said.

In the first phase the scheme would cover Ariyalur, Perambalur, Coimbatore, Tiruvarur, Nilgiris districts and would be later extended to all districts of the state.

Karunanidhi also unveiled the Rural BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) policy to create employment opportunities for graduates in semi-urban areas.

After launching a book on the policy, he said currently the situation in Tamil Nadu was conducive for creation of call centre jobs in the rural areas.

As part of setting up rural BPO centres, representatives of five companies exchanged documents with senior government officials, in Karunanidhi's presence.
