New web-based system for Arunachal treasuries

Solution developed on Linux platform

PTI | September 28, 2010

A new web-based system to cater to online transactions of bills, challans and accounts is being developed on a Linux based platform in Arunachal Pradesh.

"This innovative and cost-friendly solution is fully web-based having provisions for government payment, receipt, personal ledger account, e-clearing system, e-fund transfer, payment etc," Finance Commissioner Swati Sharma said during its launch here yesterday.

It would enable checks at the level of receipts and payments and therefore the compilation of accounts would also be faster and easier, enabling the government to submit its monthly accounts to the Accountant General in time, she said.

It would achieve transparency in the process of estimation, allocation, monitoring of budget and fiscal transaction.

The solution is being developed for implementation in all treasuries and sub-treasuries.

Initially in the first phase, the Itanagar treasury has been selected for the pilot project. Later it would be extended to the other treasuries if it attained success.

The system of ePayment would be introduced in treasuries in a phased manner.
