MPA to train cops on cyber crime detection

82 training programmes to train 2,800 officers

The Maharashtra Police Academy (MPA) has decided to adopt 82 training programmes to groom around 2,800 police officers in view of growing cyber crimes and economic offences, its director said.

"The training will help to detect many cybercrimes besides aiding to read face and body language for investigation purposes," MPA Director Sanjay Barve told reporters here.

MPA now has the basic facility to provide training in cyber crimes and we will be able to train 100 officers at a time, Deputy Director Nikhil Gupta said yesterday.

The academy is equipped with a tennis court, voleyball court, basket ball, gymnasium and swimming pool for the trainees, they said.

So far 22,284 police officers have passed out after training from the academy, they claimed.
