Ministry to launch SPV for e-gov project in next three months

Corporate Affairs to soon have a special purpose vehicle for MCA21

PTI | July 15, 2010

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs plans to float a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for its flagship e-governance project MCA 21 in the next three-months, a top Government official said today.

The MCA 21 project aims at fulfilling the aspirations of stakeholders in the 21st century through adoption of a service-centric approach.

"We are exploring options of launching an SPV for our flagship MCA 21 project. We hope to launch the same in the next three-months," Corporate Affairs Secretary, R Bandopadhyay, told PTI on the sidelines of a CII conference here today.

The Ministry's move comes as its earlier agreement with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the private partner in the project, for this purpose comes to an end in 2012.

However, it is yet to decide whether the contract with TCS would be renewed, Bandopadhyay said.

The SPV will independently manage the MCA 21, one of the first mission mode projects (MMPs) under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) that helps corporates in secure electronic filing (e-filing) for all services provided by the Registrar of Companies (ROC) such as incorporation of a company, annual filing and other event-based statutory filings.
