Maha plans to prepare database of school students

Child tracking system to digitize education records

In order to directly monitor the performance of school students and keep a check on implementation of various schemes run for them, the Maharashtra Government is planning to prepare their database under an e-Governance policy.

"It is a child tracking system which would have educational records of every student in the state and will be implemented in all the schools including government run, private and schools of other state boards," Minister of State for School Education, Fauzia Khan said.

The database would give an actual picture of the students studying in any school or organisation and quality of education provided. This would also help tracing drop out students which is one of the major concerns, Khan said.

"With the help of this system, the Government can check if various schemes for students like scholarships, free ships, mid-day meals are implemented by the schools properly.

This would make the work more transparent," Khan said.

As a part of e-Governance, the Education department has made compulsory online grading of students for all the secondary schools. The initiative has received good response from the schools and the scheme would be expanded soon, the minister said.
