Cautious about security of Mantralaya, Maharashtra Home Department is planning to introduce computerised system for visitors to enter the premises.

"We are planning to introduce computerised system for entry in Mantralaya for security reasons and also give relief to visitors from long queues," a senior official from Home Department told PTI.

The new system would take digital photograph of every visitor and also his fingerprints. It would help to create a data with the Government about people visiting Mantralaya and purpose of their visit, the official said.

The Department is talking with Tata Consultancy Services to develop the facility and soon it would be implemented in the state secretariat, the official said.

Everyday 4,000 to 5,000 people come to Mantralaya including the Government staff. Visitors are allowed to come after 2 pm with an entry pass and their names registered in a notebook manually.

"It would take at least four-five months to get the process in place, as the Government needs to provide the company technical support," the official said.
