PTI | June 29, 2010

Making Maharashtra police more people-friendly, Home Minister R R Patil said the complaints would be addressed within 24 hours and a day would be reserved for public-police interaction.

"Turant 24' would help the citizens get their complains addressed within 24 hours so that the usual issues can be tackled at the primary level itself," Patil told reporters here today after announcing to launch the service soon.

Patil also directed all the senior police officials to keep every Tuesday reserved to interact with people and help them solve their problems.

"There should be communication between police and the public. This effort would allow the people to directly speak to the police regarding their complains," the Home Minister said.

It would be mandatory for every senior police official to be present on the day as per the directives.

On reports that Patil may join Twitter, a social networking website, the Home Minister said he is still thinking on it.
