Maha forms committee to implement UID project

Committee to be headed by CM

Maharashtra government has formed a high powered committee for effective implementation of the Unique Identification project in the state.

The UID project is being spearheaded by the Unique Identification Authority of the Central government.

The committee will be headed by the chief minister Ashok Chavan.

Apart from Chavan, the committee includes the Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, Revenue Minister Narayan Rane, Finance minister Sunil Tatkare and ministers whose departments are concerned with the UID related work.

Principal Secretary of Information Technology department will be the secretary and convenor of the committee, an official release issued here today said.

The Unique Identification project to be implemented across the country seeks to give unique identification number to every citizen.
