Project to benefit implementation of Central schemes

Jammu and kashmir government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) here today for implementation of Unique identification project (UIP) in the state.

The MOU, signed on behalf of the state government by the commissioner/Secretary Planning and Development departement B B Vyas and deputy director general UIDAI Anil Khachi, marks the beginning of the process of identification of enrollment agencies and their training and procuring of equipment to kick start the enrollment process in the state, an official spokesman said.

He said signing of the MoU was the outcome of the meeting between the Chairman, UIDAI, Nandan Nilekani and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Jammu in February during which the benefits of UIP were explained particularly for beneficiaries of various centrally and state-sponsored schemes and other services provided by state government to the people, especially those below poverty line.
