A young Goan couple has embarked on a mission to provide webpage to every citizen of this coastal state through their unique website 'Digitalgoa.com'.

"The website will be a complete data base of Goa. We want that every Goan should have his own homepage, which we are offering to them," Neeraj Naik, the website proprietor told PTI.

The decade-old website, providing daily news update, is now converted into an exceptional IT project, which aims to provide webspace for every Goan.

"There is a significant demand for local content which we are providing," he said.

The couple - Neeraj and Sangita, left their lucrative jobs and devoted full time for this endeavour. Neeraj was a reporter with Marathi daily Lokmat while Sangita left her job in Malaysia University as IT professor and headed back to Goa, years back.

"Right from the small time tailor to big time business and even housewives or writers...Everyone can generate their webpage on the website www.digitalgoa.com," its Editor Sangita Naik, said.

The website has received response from lesser known village clubs and mahila bhajani mandals, who want to tell the world about their work and talent.

The tourism industry has also made its presence on the website.

"This is an ambitious project that will help the industry. Everyone in the tourism industry wants to advertise their product and they have started responding positively to the website," Gaurish Dhond, President, Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG), said. .

Sangita said the website is slowly becoming Goa's own search engine.

"The experiment began 10 years ago with a fortnightly magazine on Information Technology. Later we started taking up other tasks like website, CDs giving Goa related information and breaking news service," Neeraj said.

Digital Goa's breaking news service is an unique service which provides the subscribers news on their mobiles as and when it breaks.

"Goa has maximum PC penetration. Its on par with European states. We are trying to harness this potential. The aim is to take IT to everyone's doorstep," Neeraj added.
