Campus for Indraprastha Institute of IT laid

First phase to be completed within 15 months

Chief Minister Dikshit today laid the foundation stone of a permanent campus of Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology at Okhla in South Delhi.

IIIT is now functioning from its temporary campus in Dwarka.

Officials said the first phase of the permanent campus will be developed at a cost Rs 80 crore and will be commissioned within 15 months.

Speaking on the occasion, Dikshit said the city government has been putting in lot of efforts in making Delhi a knowledge hub.

The first phase of the campus will come up on an area of 30000 sq. meters. It will have spacious academic complex, hostel blocks, residential complex, library and a lush green playground. The buildings will be constructed using green concept.

Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology is a state university set up two years ago. Officials said it will be a self-sustaining institute with government only providing land and capital in form of interest free loan.
