BSC scheme to be implemented in all HP districts

Buoyed by the success of Biometric Smart Card scheme (BSC) for payment of social security pension in Una, the Himachal Pradesh government today approved its implementation in remaining eleven districts of the state.

Henceforth, over 2.67 lakh old age, widow and handicapped people would be paid social security pension through nationalised bank in a transparent and efficient manner, an official spokesman said.

Taking note of complaints about poor maintenance of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar bhawans at several places, the state cabinet also approved the guidelines for management and up-keep of these bhawans being constructed in all 68 Assembly constituencies in the state.

The cabinet decided to handover to the state transport department the operation of existing fleet of 75 buses in Shimla town under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).

It also decided to amend the Himachal Pradesh Value Added Tax Act-2005 and Rules to provide e-filling facility of returns and e-payment of tax by dealers.
