BEST card readers non functional leading to loses

BEST not to issue monthly passes for now

Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking today said it would not issue monthly and quarterly passes till next month as most of its card readers are non-functional.

"Since the card readers were non-functional, BEST has incurred losses to the tune of Rs 20 lakh. BEST will not issue monthly or quarterly passes till next month or till such time a new firm is appointed in this regard," BEST General Manager O P Gupta said, adding once the readers are repaired, BEST would start issuing smart cards again.

Kaizen is the company that supplies and maintains the card readers, Gupta informed.
