Assam launches Anundoram Barooah Award Scheme

Laptop for students having first division in high school

An award scheme for students securing first division in High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and High Madrassa examination 2010 of Assam (SEBA) has been announced by the state government.

The Anundoram Barooah Award Scheme also includes the tenth standard examination held under the State Madrassa Education Board, Assam, and Sanskrit Board Assam, an official release said today.

The Award consists of a certificate along with a laptop computer, free training on LINUX operating system, open office and installation.

A special package of books and course materials on installation and handling of laptop and operating software would also be provided, the release said.

The award scheme was adopted to enhance healthy competition among students and to help them enrich their perception through up-to-date knowledge and information with the help of IT education to help them in their in their academic pursuit, it said.

The awardees could also opt for financial benefits in lieu of the laptop package, the release added.

Under the scheme, introduced by the nine-year-old Tarun Gogoi government, students securing first division till last year were given desk-top computers.
