Amit Chatterjee is Microsoft's new India Development Centre MD

Chatterjee to be based out of Hyderabad

Software major Microsoft today announced the appointment of Amit Chatterjee as the Managing Director of its India Development Centre.

He succeeds Corporate Vice-President and Managing Director Srini Koppolu, who is leaving in September, 2010, after spending 21 years with the company, Microsoft said in a statement.

Chatterjee is currently serving as the General Manager for the Visual Studio Test and Lab Management team at the Microsoft India Development Centre (MSIDC). Following his promotion, he will now lead the MSIDC.

He will be based out of Hyderabad and will report to Microsoft Corporation Senior Vice-President (Developer Division) S Somasegar.

"Amit brings with him an excellent understanding of Microsoft, our product development lifecycles and an appreciation of the unique aspects of distributed and shared development," Somasegar said.

Chatterjee will be a member of the leadership team and will work closely with Microsoft India Chairman and Corporate Vice-President Ravi Venkatesan.
