All Gazette notifications to be available online in 12 months

The government plans to put all Gazette notifications on a website for public access in the next 12 months, Minister of State for IT and Communications Sachin Pilot told the Rajya Sabha yesterday.

Replying to supplementaries during Question Hour, he said "All Gazette notifications will be uploaded on egazette.nic.in in the next 12 months."

Thirty-five states and Union Territories already publish Official Gazettes and make them available on the Internet.

To a separate question, he said Third Generation (3G) networks are capable of providing higher data rates up to 2 megabytes per second (Mbps).

It is also capable of supporting a variety of services such as high-resolution video and multimedia services, in additional to voice, fax and conventional data services.

"These capabilities in 3G network technology provide applications like e-health, e-education and mobile banking, although other Broadband access networks are also capable of providing these applications," he said.
