TRS warns against action against OU students

Students reportedly attacked non- Telangana teachers at the university

TRS today warned it would respond seriously if police cases are filed against the students of Osmania University over the attack on the teachers from non-Telangana regions.

"Workers from Nalgonda and Karimnagar were beaten up in Ongole, Vijayawada and other coastal Andhra towns. The Government did not take any action. In fact, students did not attack the teachers from non-Telangana regions in OU.

Similarly, there was no action when Telangana children were given zero marks," TRS President K Chandrasekhar Rao said, addressing a gathering at the party office here.

"If any police cases are filed against the students, then Telangana will not keep quiet. The government should not test our patience," he warned.

"What happens if we start attacking those non- Telangana people living in Telangana," Rao asked.

Meanwhile, the Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) of TRS and various people's organisations today appealed to the people of the region to observe September 17 as 'Hyderabad merger day' instead of 'Hyderabad Liberation Day'.

Talking to reporters here, JAC Convener M Kodandaram said September 17, the day on which the Nizam state was merged with Indian Union in 1948, be celebrated as the day of merger.

The day was, hitherto, celebrated as the Hyderabad Liberation Day as it marks the "liberation from Nizam rule".
