BJP exec meet: Advani not leaving for Goa today

Stomach upset delays departure; may reach for all-important national executive meet on Saturday

GN Bureau | June 7, 2013

Down with an upset stomach, BJP patriarch LK Advani had to make a rare change in his schedule and postpone his departure for Goa on Friday to attend the party’s national executive meet.

Sources said Advani was genuinely “feeling not too bright” and was now expected to leave on Saturday.

The general secretaries of the party are scheduled to meet in Goa today, on the eve of the two-day meet beginning Saturday, and Advani had no role in it. However, if health permitting he is able to leave on Saturday, he would still end up missing the opening session.

It is rare by Advani’s standards to change the schedule for any event of importance. And given the context – the likely coronation of Narendra Modi and eclipsing of the veteran leader – BJP watchers are bound to read much more in Advani’s changed schedule.
