Ali Anwar Ansari, Rajya Sabha MP from Bihar talks about the plight of handloom weavers in the country. Many cases of suicide of weavers have been reported from different parts of the country, the most recent being the case of two families in Mau district of Uttar Pradesh. Ansari says he has raised the issue of weaver’s plight in the parliament and has also appealed to the Prime Minister in person. He has argued for the waiving off loans to the weavers as has been done in the case of farmers.
