Democracy of a different kind

Let's vote for citizens' participation in policy-making

GN Bureau | April 6, 2011

Anna Hazare, at 72 years of age, is on a fast-unto-death at Jantar Mantar, Delhi. His demand? The government inclue the civil society in the drafting of the Jan Lokpal Bill - ASAP.

The common man's fight against corruption has been sporadic so far. But now people (excluding Pappu Yadav) in Tamil Nadu, Mahrashtra, at the Governance Now office are joining this movement to rout corruption. This is a chance for us to make it known to the governmnet that if we have to go hungry for it to act against graft, then we are ready to do so. Do join the protest. Be seen at Jantar Mantar. Be heard on Facebook. Be retweeted. Do whatever you can do - marches, speeches, letters, petitions. Just act NOW!

One day into the fast and Sharad Pawar says he is ready to sit out of the GoM on Lokpal. If there's one quick byte of wisdom we can take away from the happenings over the last 27 hours, it is this - a collective voice, however disembodied, will sound the loudest.

So, show your support and join, so that we may have a corruption-free India.
